When new managers first join FManager, many immediately focus on training sessions and transfer activity while overlooking one of the most important aspects of club management: tactics. In reality, two teams with equally talented squads can produce completely different results simply because of better tactical decisions before kickoff.

This guide is designed specifically for new managers who want to understand the FManager tactical system from the ground up and build a solid foundation for long-term success.

Understanding the Tactical System

Before every match, managers can configure several tactical elements that influence how the team performs during the simulation:

• Formation — The positioning of players on the court.


• Starting Lineup & Substitutes — Decide who starts the match and who begins on the bench.


• Attack Style — Determines how aggressively your team attacks when in possession.


• Defense Style — Controls your team's defensive behavior when the opponent has the ball.


• Player Instructions — Assign individual roles and responsibilities to selected players.


• Player Rotation — Configure the rotation order throughout the match.


• Substitutions — Decide when players enter and leave the court.

Every tactical decision contributes to the overall performance of your team inside the match engine.

Start with the 2-1-1 Formation

For new managers, the recommended starting formation is 2-1-1. It provides an excellent balance between defensive stability and attacking opportunities.

The formation consists of:

• Two Anchors protecting the defense.


• One Flank controlling the midfield.


• One Pivot leading the attack.

This setup is recommended because it:

• Provides a balanced approach between attack and defense.


• Handles quick futsal transitions effectively.

• Goalkeeper (GK) — Prioritize players with high Handling and Technique.


• Anchor — Look for strong Tackling and Passing attributes.


• Flank — Players with excellent Playmaking and Technique are ideal.


• Pivot — High Shooting and Speed make the best finishers.

Correct positioning is the simplest yet one of the most effective tactical decisions you can make. Even advanced strategies cannot fully compensate for players being used in unsuitable roles.

Choose a Balanced Attack Style

Your chosen Attack Style influences how your team behaves while in possession.

For your first few matches, a balanced attacking approach is the safest option. Extremely aggressive tactics may expose your defense, while overly cautious strategies can leave your attack ineffective.

After several matches, use Match Reports to identify patterns. If your team frequently concedes goals during transitions, consider a more conservative setup. If scoring opportunities are limited, gradually adopt a more attacking style.

Manage Player Rotation Carefully

Futsal is an extremely fast and physically demanding sport. Proper player rotation is essential for maintaining high performance throughout the match.

Avoid starting players whose Condition has dropped below 80 whenever possible, as fatigue significantly reduces their effectiveness in the simulation engine.

Before important matches, schedule Condition Training sessions to restore player fitness and ensure your key players are fully prepared.

Learn from Every Match

Every match in FManager generates a detailed Match Report that provides valuable insights into your team's performance.

After each fixture, ask yourself the following questions:

• Which players performed below expectations?


• Where did the opponent create scoring opportunities?


• Did your formation provide enough balance?


• Which players made the biggest contribution to the result?


• Would different substitutions or rotations have changed the outcome?

The most successful managers are not those who find the perfect tactic immediately, but those who continuously refine their approach based on real match data.
